Back in October we highlighted the issue of the islanders of Rathlin being told that they would have to travel by ferry to the mainland of Northern Ireland to cast their vote. I am pleased to say that the Electoral Office of Northern Ireland have listened to the the many people who objected to this.
The revised polling station scheme for Northern Ireland has been published – and the Rathlin box is safe.
Well done to all involved in this campaign.
As I said before in October, as Liberal Democrats we cherish the right to vote, that’s why we are campaigning for a small change in the voting system to the House of Commons which will make it a much fairer way of electing our MPs.
